RSA Insurance Ireland and 123.ie are proud to announce a new partnership with Sanctuary Runners, an organisation that uses walking, jogging, and running to foster solidarity, friendship, and respect among asylum seekers, migrants, refugees, and local communities across Ireland.
This collaboration aligns with RSA and 123.ie’s 2025 Climate and Resilience strategy, which focuses on making a positive impact on communities by driving economic and climate resilience for vulnerable populations. Through this partnership, RSA and 123.ie is supporting an initiative that champions inclusion, positivity, and the power of sport to bring people together.
Speaking at the launch, Kevin Thompson, CEO of RSA Insurance Ireland, highlighted the significance of the partnership: “The partnership we are launching today goes to the heart of our values at RSA Insurance, 123.ie, and our parent company, Intact. Sanctuary Runners provides an opportunity for people arriving in Ireland to integrate into society in a meaningful and positive way. We are delighted to support their work and help build stronger, more inclusive communities.”
Michael Darragh Macauley, CEO of The Sanctuary Runners and former Dublin Senior Football star, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “Partnering with RSA and 123.ie has been an incredible opportunity for Sanctuary Runners. We are thrilled to work with an organisation that understands the unifying power of sport and athletics. This collaboration will allow us to expand our mission of bringing communities together through running, jogging, and walking.”
Sanctuary Runners, a non-political, solidarity-through-sport initiative, now boasts 44 groups across 23 counties in Ireland, with ambitious plans for further growth. In 2024, thousands of people across 75 countries participated in the group’s Global Solidarity Run, showcasing the widespread impact of the movement.
